SEO Dilemmas
Posted By: Sachin Bansal

In this post we are highlighting common SEO issues which are very important for webmasters.

Let’s start the discussion:

Q: Does meta tags are important for Search Engines?

A: Yes, some Meta tags are still very important for Search Engines.

For example: Description Meta tags are important to search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN etc. Description tags can be shown in the search result pages.

Title tags is also very important (though technically it is not meta tag). Search engines use them so accuracy & relevancy is very important.

Similarly, some other meta tags helps to control the search engines crawl and indexing, like: nofollow, noindex, noarchive etc.

Q: Does Google crawl the long dynamic URLs?

A: Yes. Google & some other search engines can crawl the long dynamic URLs.

Though it is always better to create static URLs to increase the crawlability & accessibility of the page as some time long dynamic URLs can create problems in crawling. Static URLs always have better chances to get rank & higher no. of clicks.

Q: Can we change the site links in Google Webmasters Tool?

A: No. Site links are automatically generated & we can not change them. Though, you can block any site link if that is not relevant or if you don’t want them to show others. But to get most relevant site-links we should take care of the site structure, relevancy of pages, internal linking etc.

Q: Should I use frames for my website design?

A: If it is must for you (because of some imp functionalities) then you can use it. Google supports frames and iframes to the extent that it can. But it is always better to avoid using frames & iframes wherever possible because frames can cause problems for search engines as they don’t correspond to the conceptual model of the web. In this model, one page displays only one URL.

If Frames are must for you then “NoFrames” tag can help you by providing alternative content to Search engines for frames.

Q: I have very less original content on my website. Our page are auto generated with high keyword stuffing….can I get ranking on Google?

A: No. Google does not support those webmasters who want to improve their sites ranking by creating pages with many words but little or no authentic content. Google take action against these domains.

We hope this post is helpful for webmasters & novice SEO’s to shed some light on the common SEO factors. We will continue with the discussions with subsequent posts. Your comments are also welcome to make the discussion more valuable.
